Stay tuned this sunday for the MISFITS Halloween Special! We'll begin on Sunday, November 1st, the day after Halloween when you are still in a stupor from gorging yourself on all the candy that the trick-or treaters didn't Take! Or maybe that's just me . . . Either way, this one should be great!
Everyone should be wearing a full costume, this is the day after Halloween and we're already acting like kids by soapbox racing, so we might as well go all-out. special recognition to the driver with the best costume. Our trophy run will be like usual except with full costumes, but our funrun this month will be slow and safe so we can run it without safety gear to get plenty of good footage. The trophy run is for racing, the funrun is for being safe and having fun. So bring your friends and cameras, take lots of pictures, and have a great time!
Can the Jerm followup on his ECC challenge and hold on to his 1-point championship lead? will DrScope retake the title? Will Chris return to take second again? Will we have more than six racers and two finishers this time? Will the Ice Man earn another trip to the hospital? Will Neal earn another nickname to add to his repertoire? Will everyone bring a costume or will someone forget and SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES?
Come out and see for yourself! If you need the use of a loaner car, let us know ASAP so we can reserve it for you. Remember, loaner cars go first to those who work on them, and then on a first come, first served basis! So if you need one, come get it ready, or get your request in as early as possible!
Our meet spot will be the park n' ride off of I-83N in Parkton, MD.
DIRECTIONS FROM THE BALTIMORE AREA;
Find your way to where I-83N intersects I-695 (The Baltimore Beltway)
Go 16.2 miles
Take exit 31 and Turn left onto Middletown road
Go across the bridge that goes over the highway, the park n ride is just to the right after the bridge
We plan to be at the meet spot between 6 and 6:30! We WILL be doing our Driver's Meeting And our card draw for starting position BEFORE going to the hill! So don't be late at the meet spot! If you miss the card draw, you start in the back!
A few other items I want to point out now, just so I don't forget;
We race RAIN or SHINE! So don't stay home and miss a great event just because it's raining when you wake up!
We will be running on OPEN public roads! So if you cross the center line, be aware there may be on coming traffic. As such, if you are being passed by someone who has crossed the center line, try to give them room to come back over so we don't have a disaster like october's
And always, as we are unloading and setting up, we want to try be as quiet as we can. After all, it is EARLY Sunday morning!
At the end of the run, after you have crossed the finish, bring your car to a controlled stop and pull OFF of the road surface so motorized traffic can get by. Keep in mind, other competitors may be coming in behind you at a high rate of speed. So don't do anything foolish that may get you clobbered! And before getting out of the safety of your car, make sure there is no one about to run into you!
ALL Driver’s and especially NEW drivers, make sure you go to the QUESTIONS page of the web site. Half way down the page, you will find a section called HOW IT WORKS. Make sure you read that and understand what is expected of you!
http://www.downhillmisfits.com/id13.htmlAlso, make sure you read the RULES page! Anyone showing up with a new car should make sure it conforms to the Car Construction Rules. We don't want to have to turn anyone away, so make sure your ride is built according to the rules.
